When I first planned this post it was going to be about the gorgeous inkle bands I wove on my wonderful mini inkle loom while traveling to the Blissdom conference at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, TN.
Really, I had every intention of weaving while I was away. Yeah, well, that did NOT happen. The conference was jam packed with sessions and way too much fun! I did take it out of the bag though, look at it a few times, move it to reach something behind it, and then pack it again for the return trip home without weaving anything. Oh, the intentions.
I even bought this cute handbag to carry it in. It’s as though it was made just for this loom. Notice the tweed plaid pattern; it is woven and not just a print. Too perfect for carrying an inkle loom on the plane!
Hopefully, the next time I pack it up and take it with me I will actually weave on it. But even if I don’t it is comforting to know I can easily weave on the go in style if I want to . . .
I bought a little wheelie suitcase to fit my Ashford Inklette in. It is made for a child and has great primary colors. The loom fits perfectly with room for some yarn and supplies, too. Once I tried to take it as a carry on and they were over-crowded and said that I would have to check it. I was so afraid that it would get crushed, so I argued. They found a place for it in First Class!
Funny how precious our looms are. The airline lost my luggage on the way out (later recovered) and all I could think was at least I have my loom with me!
Hi Jennifer,
What kind of loom is this one (i.e. what make)?
Have just found your blog and am reading my way through it 🙂
Sarah
Welcome Sarah! So glad you found me. I absolutely love this little loom. It doesn’t have a brand on it. I bought it from a small company that has since been sold and is no longer selling any weaving items. I know this because I contacted the company to try to get another one. I’ve tried to get in touch with the previous owner to no avail. 😦 Sorry. I’m hoping to have someone make one for me one of these days.
Oh, well it has definitely found a good home with you 🙂
We have our local fibre festival / wool show coming up (in Bendigo, Australia) and I think I may be coming home with an inkle! Apart from the larger companies (e.g. Ashford) there are often woodworking stallholders who make interesting spindles, nostepinne and other gadgets.
My dad does a little woodworking too, so perhaps we can make one together.
That fibre festival sounds lovely. If you don’t buy an inkle loom at the festival, I vote for making one with Dad! What a priceless experience that would be, and you would think of it every time you used the loom. Do tell what you end up doing.
